Football analysis
How fans really react, before and after the whistle
Fans say what they think within minutes of a goal, a sacking or a transfer rumour. We turn public posts and comments into a clear picture of the mood, how it moves around the match, and where platforms disagree, so your story rests on more than a few loud replies.

What you get
- A mood curve across the match week, with the result and key moments (goals, red cards, substitutions) added as background
- How the mood differs between platforms and, where the posts allow it, between groups of supporters, each read against its own usual tone
- Which themes drive the debate, such as the manager, the referee, a signing or the board
- Which outlets and public accounts shaped the conversation, with links (Sources tab)
- An interactive report and a PDF, usually delivered within 24 hours on working days
- Digital fingerprints and two independent timestamps at delivery, so you can show the analysis is unchanged
Questions it can answer
- Did the mood about the manager change after Saturday's result, compared with the usual tone?
- How did fans react to a signing, a sacking or a transfer rumour in the first 48 hours?
- Is the anger about the referee a loud few or a wide group, and where is it loudest?
- How does the reaction on X differ from Reddit or YouTube?
Why context matters in football
Some clubs are always debated harshly, and some fan bases are almost always supportive. A score such as 60% critical means little on its own. We read every result against the topic's usual tone, show the change over time, and split it by platform and group. See how it works for the full picture.
Match facts as background
Result, scorers and key moments are added under the mood curve to show what happened when. They are background to help you read the curve, not a data product, and every field is checked by hand before it is used. We do not show league tables or club logos.
What this is not
It is an online mood reading and does not describe what all fans think. We only analyse public posts and comments from people who choose to post online, and we take no side.
We only analyse publicly available content: posts and comments anyone can see without being invited. Private messages, private profiles, closed groups and private channels are never included, on any platform.
Who it is for
Football writers, sports desks, club and agency communications teams, and any business that sponsors or works with football and needs to understand the mood before it speaks. Working in a newsroom? See Public Mood for newsrooms.
Questions
Can you analyse a single match?
Yes. We usually look at the last 30 days or from the event onward, and the period is always stated in the report.
Which platforms do you use?
X, Reddit, YouTube and TikTok, plus Google Trends and others when they fit the question. Tell us which platforms you need, or leave it to us and we pick the mix per topic. We always show the number of posts per platform.
Can you compare fans of different clubs?
Where the question and the posts allow it, we split by club or supporter group. We tell you before we start if a question cannot be answered reliably.
Does the result show what all fans think?
No. It is an online mood reading: it shows what people say publicly online, not what all fans think.
Can I publish the findings?
Yes, as an online mood reading, not as what all fans think. The free first analysis requires crediting Public Mood.
Can readers check the analysis has not been changed?
Yes. Every analysis we deliver is fingerprinted and timestamped at delivery and listed in our public register. The timestamp proves it is unchanged since delivery, not that it is right.
